Quick update

Hello all. Unfortunately, this won't be a very long update. My Mac is broken (the LCD backlight has disconnected I think) so I'm blogging from my phone. Not so fun.

Yesterday we arrived in Birmingham, AL. Touring has been nothing like I expected it, and yet at the same time, everything I did expect. I still haven't made many friends, but luckily I do have a few that have kept me sane. My new roommate Amanda is totally awesome and we have a ton of stuff in common. Best thing? She comes from DCI (Drum Corp International) family. She toured with the Cadets (I think) for four years selling their merchandise and her dad marched in the 70's. How amazing is that!?! And to think we ended up as roommates without knowing anything about each other! I don't think I would have survived this tour if it weren't for her. Truly.

My allergies have been going a bit haywire and Alabama brings it out a bit, but luckily things haven't been too bad. All this traveling however, is taking its toll. Last night was the first time I felt that I was vocally tired. I'm taking care of myself though. It's hard to say no when everyone is out celebrating a birthday and I just sat in my room and went to bed. But I know I needed it. Only two more days (4 shows!) and we'll finally get a break. I think we've been singing for 17 days straight now. I can't keep up with the calendar. Most days I have no idea what day it actually is. I just show up when they tell me. Part of that is actually kinda nice though, I have to be honest.

I've spent some time on the bus working on my thesis. It's actually pretty awesome that I'm finally getting paid to do something I love and still have the time/energy to write. I am so thankful for this.

Ok, I think that's all I can get to right now. Hoping once we hit our next big stop, I'll be able to take my Mac in and get it fixed. Life SUCKS without a laptop. I am SO thankful for my phone right now.
